National Apprenticeship Week

It’s National Apprenticeship Week and at Landmark, we have two very talented individuals working towards a Digital Marketing apprenticeship scheme. Landmark is partnering with QA, a learning provider who deliver professional training and certified courses to individuals throughout the UK.
We are currently working with 2 apprentices from QA, Ravi Patel who joined us in May 2017 and Simran Virdee, who joined in November 2017. They are both working on Digital Marketing Apprenticeship schemes. The scheme allows individuals to gain practical, hands on experience in an office environment whilst studying towards a “Level 3 qualification” in Digital Marketing.

Ravi
Since arriving at Landmark Group as a Digital Marketing apprentice, I have learnt a great deal about the digital industry. During my time here, I have tackled a wide range of tasks from designing brochures and adverts to creating content for all of our social media pages and website. At times, I am put under a lot of pressure to meet deadlines and objectives, however, the benefits are enormous and I am enjoying my role here. I have developed as an individual and have gained a huge insight into the digital media and property industry. The highlight of my time here at Landmark would be winning “Best Residential Development UK” at the International Property Awards. I played an active part in the creation of the entry for Landmark, from collating information about the different developments to working closely with different department Heads to ensure they were fully informed on the process. When I found out that we had won this award, it was a shock and a wonderful surprise. These awards are internationally renowned and to be part of the success for Landmark was amazing.
My apprenticeship scheme involves completing over 10 modules over the course of a year, through classroom learning and coursework. These are assigned at the training centres for the formal training (typically 1/month). The courses include SEO, data analytics and social media marketing. To date, my favourite module has been content marketing because it involves creating campaigns and graphic material, both subjects I really enjoy.
My aspirations are to gain more experience in a specific field of digital marketing such as SEO or social media marketing. I am really enjoying my time learning about this area of industry, however am very open to considering new things as I gain more practical experience.

Simran
My apprenticeship is helping me to pave the way for my long term career. Upon completion of my college course, I was unsure of what career path I wanted to take. I enjoyed studying Graphic Design and wanted to pursue this, I was able to talk through my options with career advisors, however I felt that there was a tendency to push university over other alternatives. Therefore, I decided to independently research other options, and came across an apprenticeship in Digital Marketing. This option, combining traditional classroom learning with practical experience fit what I was looking for.
In November 2017 I began my apprenticeship at Landmark Group as a Digital Marketing Executive. The work I have been tasked with has been varied and different to any previous experience, however I have learned an incredible amount in a short space of time. During my apprenticeship I am required to attend training at QA learning centres whilst independently completing essays and assignments.
In my first formal module I have learned about the basics of Digital Marketing and Search Engine optimizations. This was really interesting as I hadn’t heard of SEO and how to utilise it before. Now, I am able to bring this theory into practice with our newly created website. At Landmark my tasks include designing adverts, videos, and creating a range of new content to go onto our social media/website. In addition to this, I am fortunate enough to be able to incorporate my graphic design background, as there are lots of opportunities to be creative.
My goals while working at Landmark Group are to learn HTML coding and develop my understanding in digital marketing. After my apprenticeship, my aspiration is to become a full time graphic designer.
